The ghosts of Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman (not to mention fellow high school alum Frank Zappa - another critically acclaimed composer from P.B.) are in good hands around Mission Bay High School. School alumnus Ray Vinole, the "inspiration" for the school's jazz band program, is one of San Diego's most beloved jazz artists, teachers and curators. A Pacific Beach native, Vinole's time-tested chops and unequivocal taste add a much-needed air of class and artistry to yet another appearance at P.B. Block Party with his Jazz Band.
